A cyclist who was seriously injured in a collision has died in hospital.
Chris Powell, 51, was hurt in a crash involving a car on Aylward Street in Stepney Green at around 11.15pm on August 6.
He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries on Sunday, August 9.
Parvez Ahmed Rahman, 33, of Russia Lane in Bethnal Green, has been charged with attempted murder and failing to stop after a road collision.
He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, August 8 and was remanded into custody.
Mr Rahman is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, September 4.
Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the Metropolitan Police investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with Christopher's family and friends at this extremely difficult time."
Police are appealing for witnesses and information to help build a full picture of the incident.
DCI Card said: "As we try to build up a full picture of the incident, we are appealing to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information – particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage."
