A residential street has been cordoned off and a forensic tent set up following a fatal shooting.
The incident happened in the early hours on St Bartholomews Road in Newham, where a man in his 40s was found with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle and died.

In photos taken at the scene, police tape is seen stretched across pavements and street furniture, restricting access to the area, which includes a busier road lined with shops and neighbouring residential streets.

Several police vehicles are parked at the scene and forensic officers in protective suits are working inside the cordon.

A forensic tent has been erected as examinations take place.
A woman who lives nearby described the incident as deeply distressing.
The woman said: "I have my daughter living here with three kids.
"This is so horrible.

"What is going wrong in this world?"
She said it had prompted her and her husband to consider leaving London.
She said: "I was talking to my husband the other day and we are thinking of moving away from London.
"It’s so horrible."
The side of Central Park Road linking to the street where the shooting happened has also been cordoned off by police.
